As a doula I support women in their choices. This means that I am happy to attend homebirths, hospital births, and also to support women through caesareans, planned or unplanned. I am also happy to support you at home before you go to hospital as well as meeting you there.
In my work as a Doula I will meet up with you in your home a number of times before your due date. This will enable us to develop and friendly, caring and trusting relationship. We will explore your individual needs and wishes, research special circumstances together, work with expectations and comfort measures and just generally get to know each other.
I am then available from the onset of your labour, or from when you need my support, until a few hours after the baby is born when you are comfortable and ready for some quiet time together.
In the weeks after the birth I will visit you again to talk about the experience and round up our work together. I am also available on the phone or via email for support with your baby and breastfeeding. Additional help for the post partum period is also available.

Postpartum Doula Services
As a post partum doula I also work with women after the birth of their child. I come around to your home and can help out with a myriad of things. Most commonly I will help new Mums work out practical things of how to manage life with one hand. We might explore some breastfeeding issues together and I also do light housework such as washing, washing up, cooking and light cleaning. Often we spend time talking about what it is like to be a new Mum, and how she might be feeling at the moment, more than just how she medically is recovering and getting breatfeeding happening. I might give foot rubs and nurse the baby while Mum takes a well earned nap or a shower. Or I might just hang out offering some adult company and a compassionate ear.
Having a post partum doula is support for the transition into motherhood in a holistic way.
So many Mums come to our BaBs group after they have gone through this very tumultuous time with their very new baby and what they all say is that they wish they had had someone coming, for a couple of hours every day or a couple of times a week, to reassure them, to make them healthy food, put on the washing and hold their baby while they took a shower. This is what post partum doulas can do.
My minimum call out is 2 hours for the northern Sunshine Coast – bordered by Pomona, Eumundi, Yandina, Peregian, Coolum, Maroochydore and Nambour. Min call out for anywhere else on the coast is 3 hours.
Pre and post natal support package
With this package I offer pre-natal support and preparation and post natal follow of and debriefing after your birth. During the 4 pre-natal meetings we can work on specific issues or past experiences, write a birth plan or deal with pain coping practices. After your birth I can see you in hospital and/ or only at home two times. During these visits we can talk about your birth and I can help you out with getting comfortable with your new baby or just keep you company in these early stages of getting use to your new situation.
For birth doula, pre- and post-natal package and post-partum doula pricing, please give me a call or email me.
